Would you invest $200 in Reaktor 6 at this point? It's fun to work with but no constructions really have their own identity and you don't just look at a stored patch without 10 minutes of figuring it out even if I made it! Another plus of Reaktor is something like 3000 free synth ensembles, but at some point theres got to be alot of overlap and if you cant read the labels what's the point? It's also not on sale now and $200 which seems like a real lot for it's age. How is the sound compared to more modern synths? Does it have a workflow that feels archaic? I have Cherry Audio Voltage Modular Core and that's where I've been building but visually it's a modular so it's just a mess to look at. ![]() Hi res screens were not really a thing back then, computers were weaker etc. 6 years on a program like this feels like abandonware. It was released in 2015 which means a long time without an update. It seems like this is what Reaktor is all about, as well as the gigantic library of user ensembles. The idea of being able to design my own control panels sounds like fun while giving each creation its own identity. Still I long for synths with more modern features that are laid out more like analog style synths exactly the way I'd want them while having some nonstandard modulations pre-routed. ![]() I have tons of the classic emulations, having both Arturia V Collection 8, Roland Cloud Ultimate as well as the more modern digital variety like Synthmaster and Pigments. So I've been bit by the bug of wanting to build custom synths for my own use that can be laid out in exactly the format I like, and with some features that are beyond what is normally seen on synths that are still easy to navigate.
